The basic structure of suspension system: mainly includes elastic components, guiding mechanism and shock absorber。

Elastic components: leaf spring, air spring, spiral spring and torsion bar spring and other forms, modern cars mostly use spiral spring and torsion bar spring, a few advanced models use air spring;

Structural features: The wheels on both sides are connected by an integral axle (torsion beam), and the wheels together with the axle are connected with the body through the elastic suspension system, and the torsion beam can be twisted within a certain range。However, if a wheel encounters an uneven road surface, the torsion beam will still have a certain interference on the other side of the wheel, strictly speaking, the torsion beam suspension is still a non-independent suspension。 Chassis suspension modification
Chassis suspension modification According to the subtle structural differences of non-independent suspension, it can be divided into three types: torsion beam suspension, longitudinal drag arm suspension and longitudinal swing arm suspension。

Non-independent suspension, especially torsion beam suspension, relative to the independent suspension is less comfortable, but the structure is simple and reliable, it does not take up space, and the maintenance cost is lower than the independent suspension, so the torsion beam suspension is used in the rear axle of small cars and compact cars。

Main advantages: simple and practical structure, minimal space, low manufacturing cost 。

Main disadvantages: poor bearing performance, weak anti-roll ability, poor shock absorption performance, limited comfort

Applicable models: small and medium-sized cars, low-end SUV rear suspension
